Farmland values around the world have been growing. Brazil and Argentina have both experienced strong growth. In 2002, an acre of land in Brazil cost approximately $324. The same land in 2010 cost $5,200. While limits on foreign ownership of farmland somewhat limits values, they continue rising. Romania, since joining the EU has seen land values rise 1,817% since 2002. The UK has seen values rise more than 200% in eight years, while values in the U.S. have risen on average 75% between 2002 and 2010. Australia experienced 300% and New Zealand a 262% growth in land values. Africa has high growth potential but that potential comes with other challenges such as infrastructure and political stability in some countries.
