The major government grants for algae based biofuel production of 2009 are being replaced by private investment and strategic partnerships between industries such as oil and gas, agricultural processors, chemical and plastic industries, biotechnology, power utilities and waste management companies. This shift, coupled with fossil fuel prices, regulatory support and new algae biofuel technologies has put the industry in position to experience double digit growth in the short term.
