New Zealand Wine Exports Hit New Record

As of June 2012, year-to-date New Zealand wine exports reached 242 million liters or $1.18 billion, up 8% on the same period a year before.  Even though New Zealand accounts for less than 1% of total global wine production, it is the 10th largest exporter by value, the 11th largest by volume and is second only to France in terms of average price in sales.  Production for 2012 has dropped 18% from last year however, making near future supply quite tight as demand continues to grow.
