EPA To Approve Grain Sorghum for Cleaner Ethanol

Giving farmers a new income producing option and providing for the Renewable Fuel Standards with a crop other than corn, the EPA is on the verge of approving the use of sorghum to produce advanced biofuels.  Sorghum is more drought tolerant than corn, using 1/3 less water while producing the same amount of ethanol per bushel.  Sorghum is generally grown in the Central and Southern Great Plains.  One plant in Kansas is already undergoing multi-million dollar renovations to be the first to take advantage of this new ruling.
