Khosla Ventures Backs Computer Vision for Agriculture

 

Khosla Ventures, which raises money for agricultural start-ups, has raised $3.1 million for Sunnyvale California-based Blue River Technology.  Blue River developed a machine that recognizes lettuce plants in the field using vision technology. When the device finds a plant that doesn’t belong in the field, a mechanical knife cuts it out or herbicide can be sprayed down.  The technology is extremely precise and cost effective.
