Foreign Firms Ready to Gulp up Dairy Industry

 

After years of trying to integrate themselves into retail and supply chains, foreign companies are making inroads with consumers and establishing themselves in China. Both General Mills and Fonterra have recently announced plans to develop their dairy businesses in China.   In just the past year, three Chinese dairy producers were blamed for selling tainted milk contaminated by production lines.  This, on the back of the 2008 melamine contamination scandal has made foreign dairy producers far more trusted by Chinese consumers.
