Last year Mexico was one of the world’s largest citrus suppliers. One in four lemons in the world comes from Mexico. This year however, Mexico’s citrus industry has been hit hard by drought. Orange yields are down 22% or 3,200,000 tons. Lemon yields will decrease 5.6% or 1,700,000 tons and the grapefruit harvest will be down 23.9% compared to last season.
