BC Cattle Sales to Russia Expected To Increase After Ban Lifted

The last vestige of the Russian ban on Canadian cattle, in place since 2003, has been lifted opening the Russian market to breeding cattle from British Columbia.  Over the years the ban has been lifted in stages with breeding cattle from British Columbia the last to be allowed back into the Russian market since British Columbia was the last province to be known to have BSE present. Over the next ten years both the cattle and dairy industries of British Columbia will see growth as international markets re-open to them.
