Geographies of Interest

From sea to shining global sea, agriculture flourishes in many different environments, businesses, governments, and political scenarios. GAI NY will cover a few of the geographic areas making news and noise in agriculture:

— Nationwide U.S. farmland values have grown exponentially since reaching a record high in 2022, with California seeing a 23 percent increase since 2020. In this first in the U.S. for agriculture, the state’s cash receipts were valued at over US$43 billion and accounted for 11.63 percent of the U.S. total. Carter Malloy, founder and CEO of AcreTrader, and Ben Maddox, VP of business development for Acres, will lead a discussion on California Farmland Value Trends.

— From Brazil, the world’s top producer and exporter of soy, coffee, and sugar, Marcel Moreira Pinto of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, will speak to that country’s National Program for the Conservation of Degraded Pastures.

— From Down Under, GAI will highlight Investing in the Australia Water Market with speakers Lachlan Beech and Lachlan Campbell, both of Duxton Water Limited.

— Heading north to Canada, Managing Partner Andrea Gruza of Bonnefield Financial will provide background for building an ag allocation in Canada. The opportunities to partner in Canada, where over the last 10 years, agriculture and agri-food exports have grown by 103 percent with farm cash receipts growing by 46 percent over the same period, are plentiful.
