Moleaer’s nanobubble technology results in water that is supersaturated with dissolved oxygen, providing enriched irrigation that can help grow healthier, larger, more resilient crops. Moleaer’s platform can also support chemical-free water treatment, the recovery of natural resources, and drive increased productivity across a range of commercial industries, including aquaculture.

Husqvarna Group Ventures has made Moleaer its seventh investment, committing $7.5 million in capital to support the potential in this nanobubble platform.

“To always remain at the forefront, we are selectively investing in disruptive technologies and products that can further strengthen the Husqvarna Group,” said Henric Andersson, president and CEO, Husqvarna Group. “Moleaer is a very good fit and we truly look forward to being a part of their journey, with the ambition to create new sustainable nanobubble solutions together.”

At 70-120 nanometers in size, nanobubbles are 2,500 times smaller than a grain of salt. Formed using any gas and injected into any liquid, they can be supersaturated with oxygen to serve as natural oxidants for disinfection, to improve plant health, and to increase water’s ability to permeate both soil and rock.

Moleaer’s patented technology provides the highest oxygen transfer rate in the aeration and gas infusion industry, at more than 85 percent per foot of water (at standard conditions, conventional aeration technologies achieve a 3 percent transfer rate).

Nanobubbles are particularly effective at improving water quality due to their size, structure, and unique characteristics, such as their strong negative surface charge that keeps them stable in liquid and able to participate in ongoing physical, biological, and chemical interactions; their neutral buoyancy that ensures an enormous total bubble surface area for hyper-efficient gas transfer; and when stimulated, they destabilize and collapse, releasing a hydroxyl radical – one of the strongest known oxidizers used to kill contaminants in water.

To-date, Moleaer has more than 1,500 cost-effective and chemical-free nanobubble generator installations that have been validated by extensive research in more than 30 countries, helping farmers sustainably produce more food, restoring aquatic ecosystems without added chemicals, and enabling businesses to manage their water needs more effectively and efficiently.

This technology has been thoroughly tested by third-party experts and multiple independent researchers using Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA). Virginia Tech has proven that Moleaer’s nanobubbles eliminate pathogens such as E. Coli and Listeria on surfaces within five minutes of exposure, and a study conducted by ASU has confirmed the oxidative properties of Moleaer’s technology and the formation of hydroxyl radicals.

Nick Dyner, CEO of Moleaer, commented on the funding, saying, “This investment allows us to expand our presence further in Europe and accelerate the development of more products and innovations that help industries protect the environment and utilize water more efficiently.”

For Husqvarna, its intentions are that this investment will enable its Gardena Division to explore nanobubble technology’s potential in addressing water scarcity.

“This investment enables Husqvarna to discover new opportunities resulting from a technology addressing key sustainability challenges within relevant adjacencies, such as agriculture and horticulture,” said Mark Johnson, head of Husqvarna’s Corporate Ventures.

“Husqvarna shares our passion for innovation and sustainability,” added Dyner, “and we are excited to work together to address the need for products to help industries adapt to new climate realities and protect vital resources.”
