La Maison Younan, a subsidiary of Younan Company, a global private equity firm specializing in the acquisition and management of a range of assets and companies in the luxury consumer space, has acquired its third vineyard in the renown Grand Cru region of Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France, for an undisclosed amount.

“It has been of great enjoyment as a wine lover to expand our international footprint and to continue making wines in the most impressive region of the world – Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France,” said Zaya S. Younan, CEO, La Maison Younan.

This new vineyard called Château Ascumbas now joins the firm’s vineyard portfolio, Les Vignobles de La Maison Younan, that already includes Château la Croix Younan and Château Zaya – two producers of some of the region’s best wines.

This deal marks the third acquisition of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru vineyard for La Maison Younan in less than three years.

Its parent company, Younan Company, is a recognized global luxury brand with more than $3.2 billion in AUM through its subsidiaries La Maison Younan, Younan Properties, and premium cigar maker El Septimo Geneva SA. Aside from its three vineyards, La Maison Younan also owns and manages luxury hotels and resorts in France and Portugal, four golf courses in France, and a design studio in Paris.

A neighbor of prestigious vineyards like Château La Fleur Morange (a new Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion), the Château Ascumbas estate extends for more than 12 acres of prime vines in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation (extremely rare for a single parcel) with an average age of 35 years, producing Merlot and Cabernet Franc dominant varieties highlighting the strong fundamentals of the terroir.

“The land, soil, and vines at Chateau Ascumbas made it the perfect addition to our vineyard portfolio,” commented Younan.

Despite being relatively new to vineyard ownership and winemaking, La Maison Younan has already received global recognition as notable winemakers. As its CEO Zaya Younan became the first American winemaker to be inducted into the region’s prestigious Juradé of Saint-Émilion, its vintages have also earned ratings up to 91 by world-famous wine critics like Antonio Galloni’s Vinous Media.

“We are eager to invest in and improve the viticulture and vinification processes at Chateau Ascumbas,” said Younan, “just as we did at our two other properties, so that we can continue producing delicious wines for the world to enjoy.”
